Earth Day 2021 REWEAR Challenge FAQ
Who is conducting the Earth Day 2021 REWEAR Challenge?
Kidizen, Inc. is conducting the REWEAR Challenge in conjunction with the participating REWEAR brands. Kidizen owns, manages, and operates the kidizen.com online marketplace. Kidizen will maintain all records related to clothing donated and sold in the REWEAR Challenge.
If you have questions which are not addressed by these FAQs, please contact Kidizen at email@example.com.
What are the charitable purposes of the REWEAR Challenge?
In partnership with our REWEAR partners, Kidizen seeks to reduce waste by extending the lives of children's products through reuse. Our goal is to promote an interconnected world, powered by families supporting each other through sharing – for the love of our next-gen citizens and a cared-for planet. We seek to pay it forward by raising good citizens, the world’s future leaders and protectors, through modeling the values that we as parents embrace—responsible consumption and sharing. To this end, we have partnered with Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation in order to support their work in preparing students to be active and responsible citizens of a sustainable world.
What items can I send?
You can send in gently-used children’s apparel, accessories, and footwear from any of the participating REWEAR brands:
What condition do the items need to be?
The items you send should be in rewearable condition so that they can be resold. This means that there should be no holes, stains, or excessive wear. Items received that are not in rewearable condition will be donated to one of Kidizen’s partner charities. All donated clothing we be sold or donated to one of our partners. Donated clothing will not be returned to you.
How many items can I send?
You can send as many items as you’d like, so long as they are items from the 13 REWEAR brand participants and are in good rewearable condition (no holes, stains, or excessive wear).
What should I use for packaging?
We strongly encourage you to reuse any packaging materials you have from shipments you’ve previously received because it’s the most eco-friendly option! Do you have an Amazon polymailer or box? Perfect! Just be sure to remove the old shipping label or place your Kidizen shipping label so that it covers the prior label.
How do I get a shipping label?
Once you fill out the donation form, you will be directed to a page where you will enter your return address. From there, you may choose to have the label emailed to you or you can print directly from that page. Please note, it’s important that you use the same name and mailing address for the shipping label that you enter in the submission form. This is how we will be able to confirm receipt of your items so that we can email you the promo code offered by the brand(s) for the items you send to us.
I filled out the form but I didn’t receive my shipping label. What do I do?
If you selected the “Print” option from the USPS shipping label page and your shipping label didn’t appear, please go to your browser settings and turn off your pop-up blocker. If you selected the “Email” option, please check your email spam folder. If you continue to experience issues, you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What if I need more than one shipping label?
If you need more than one shipping label, you may return to the donation form to fill out your information again and create a new shipping label.
I noticed that the shipping label is First Class. What if my package is more than 16 oz?
No worries! Kidizen gets charged for the shipping labels based on the actual weight of the package when weighed by the post office. So, if it’s more than 16 oz (the maximum weight for a First Class label), the post office is required to ship the package regardless, and Kidizen will cover the cost of shipping that is charged to us based on the actual weight.
What is cutoff for making my donation to the REWEAR Challenge?
The REWEAR Challenge will run for the entire month of April 2021. Please make sure that all items are in the mail by May 1, 2021.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Kidizen, Inc. is not a chartable organization, so your clothing donation is not tax deductible.
What happens to the items once they are received by Kidizen?
Once we receive the items, we will match up the name and address used for the return address with the information you provided in the donation form. We will then provide the brand or brands that are included in your shipment with your email address so that they can send you the promo code they are offering for this event. For example, if your shipment includes Tea Collection and Peek Kids items, we will give your email address to Tea and Peek so they can email you a promo code. If you do not want us to share your email address with any of our participating brands, please be sure that the check box included in the submission form asking if you want us to share your email is not checked.
When do the donated items get listed on Kidizen?
Once items are received, we will distribute them to our Style Scouts here in Minneapolis. Depending on the number of items received, the Style Scouts will list the items in the Kidizen shops over the course of the next few months.
How will the proceeds of donated items be applied?
The shipping costs incurred and our standard transaction fees will be deducted from the sales of all donated items. Style Scouts also make a commission on the sale for the listing, warehousing, and fulfillment of these items. The net proceeds left after these deductions will be contributed to charity (estimated to be at least 50% of the sale amount).
What charity will receive the proceeds from the sale of the items?
The Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation (CELF) is the charity that will receive all proceeds after fees and shipping costs are deducted from the sales of the donated items. CELF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2003 with the mission of making Education for Sustainability (EfS) an integral part of K-12 school curricula and culture to prepare current and future students to be active and responsible citizens of a sustainable world. CELF engages teachers, administrators, students and community leaders through professional development and experiential learning programs that have reached more than 14,000 teachers and administrators and over one million students to date. Has Kidizen committed to donating a certain amount?
Kidizen has not committed to donating a specific amount to the Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation or any other charitable organization as part of the REWEAR Challenge. There is no guaranty that the REWEAR Challenge will be a financial success.
Will Kidizen disclose the amount of funds it raises?
Kidizen has not finalized its plans for announcing the results of the REWEAR Challenge. You can check for updates on our website in our Announcements upon completion of the event.
