How to Trade-In Items to Kidizen


Trade-in your gently used items and receive Kidizen credit!


Please note that items that are old styles for Hanna Andersson and Mini Boden (more than 5 years from when they were manufactured) and items with fading, pilling or stains will not be accepted. Make sure to check your items prior to shipping so you are not paying just to have them donated. *See our not accepted item list for more details


What items are accepted to trade-in?

We are currently only accepting a limited number of brands so please make sure your items are on the accepted brand list or they will not be accepted. You will need to complete the trade in form HERE

Please note that items must be less than 5 years old for Hanna Andersson and Mini Boden, clean, and in very good condition with no missing brand or size tags. Items must also be free from stains, holes, fading, excess wash wear, and odors. See below for exclusions and additional notes.

  • Items that don’t have size or brand tags

  • Bloomers without a matching dress
  • Single pajama top or bottom
  • Incomplete sets (this includes pajamas and swimwear)

  • Women’s items

  • Changing Pads and Covers
  • Burp Cloths

  • Winter boots, flip-flops, and slides


What do I receive in exchange for sending the items?

You will receive a Kidizen credit for each item you send in. This credit will expire 180 days from the date it was issued. The credit amount depends on the brand and type of item you are sending in. Please see above for the credit amounts.  


How do I trade in my items?

You will need to mail in your items directly to us. You can purchase a shipping label online from USPS or any other carrier of your choice. We also recommend Sendle for a carbon-neutral shipping option with pricing as low as $4.44 or Pirateship

To ensure we have the information needed to process your trade-ins, we ask that you print out a copy of your trade-in form that was emailed to you after submitting your trade-in request and include it in the package. If you don’t have a printer, you can simply write your name and trade-in ID (provided in the email) on a piece of paper and include it with your items.

What are some pro tips for purchasing a shipping label?

We highly recommend purchasing your shipping online either through USPS, Pirateship,  or Sendle to get the best rate. Pricing at USPS retail locations typically is more expensive. Pirateship and Sendle tend to offer the best pricing for packages under 1lb. If you don't have a scale at home, we recommend using Sendle, since they offer low rates on a wider range of weights. Sendle pricing can be found here

Plus, if you are within 1400 miles of Minneapolis, MN, your pricing through Sendle is even less. If you don't use Sendle for your shipping we recommend UPS or FedEx for packages that are over 1lb. 


 What should I use for packaging?

We strongly encourage you to reuse any packaging materials you have from shipments you’ve previously received because it’s the most eco-friendly option! Do you have an Amazon poly mailer or box? Perfect! Just be sure to remove the old shipping label or place your shipping label so that it covers the prior label.  


 What condition do the items need to be?

In order to receive credit, items must be in new or gently used condition. We do not accept brands other than what we have listed or items that have holes, stains, fading, or excessive wear.


How many items can I trade-in?

You can trade in as many items as you'd like, so long as they meet the condition requirements stated above. All items should be sent together under 1 trade-in ID.  If you are also trading in items for the Plae and Tea trade-in programs, all items can be shipped together. Make sure to write or print down your trade-in ID's for each program. 


What happens to items that aren’t accepted?

Items received that are not accepted will be donated to a partner charity and will not be returned to the sender.


 If my items are donated, is the donation tax deductible?

Since we are not a charitable organization, your clothing donation is not tax deductible.


 What happens to the items once they are dropped off or mailed in?

If you mail in your items, we will match up the name and address used for the return address and/or the form included in the package with the information you provided in the trade in form

Please allow 1-2 weeks from the time the items are received in order for us to process your trade-ins and send you your Kidizen credit.


 When do I receive my Kidizen credit?

As soon as we receive your items and process them through, you will receive the credit to your Kidizen account. You can view your credit amount by logging into your Kidizen account > Me tab> Tap on the piggy bank icon. 


Why didn’t I receive credit for some of the items I traded in?

If an item doesn’t meet our condition or brand standards, or is on the list of items we do not accept, you will not receive a credit for this item. Please make sure each of your items being sent in meet all of our requirements that we have laid out at the top.
